ひな祭りって英語で説明できるかな…？
ひな祭りは、日本の節句の一つ。
女の子の成長を願い、お祝いするものです。
でも、日本独特の文化を英語でどう説明したらいいか困りますよね。

♡ひな祭り= The Doll’s Festival
Hina-matsuri, the Doll’s Festival, is held on March 3rd. We, Japanese people, celebrate the health and happiness of girls. Families who have a girl display special dolls known as Hina-ningyo for Hina-Matsuri.
3月3日は、ひな祭り。女の子の健やかな成長と幸せを願いながらお祝いをします。女の子のいる家庭では、ひな祭りには家の中に雛人形を飾ります。
The Hina-ningyo dolls used to be placed on a stand with several levels like descending stairs in old days. Today, the doll sets are smaller with fewer dolls and as few as just one level to be suitable for Japanese houses. The dolls are usually set up by the first day of spring, or sometime by February 24th.
かつては、大きな何段もある立派なひな壇のおひなさまを飾っていました。 日本の家は広くないため、最近では1段タイプの雛人形を飾る家庭が多いです。 雛人形は、立春の日から遅くても2月24日ころまでに飾ります。
♡ひな祭りの飾り
Hishimochi, Shirozake (rice wine) and peach flowers are displayed together. Hishimochi is a rice cake colored in pink, white and green and it is prepared only for Hina-Matsuri. There are some areas in Japan where they flow a pair of paper-made Hina Ningyo dolls into a river as old custom.
雛人形を飾って、菱餅・白酒・桃の花などをそなえます。 菱餅はピンクと白と緑色のお餅で、ひな祭りの時だけそなえられます。「流し雛」と言って、紙で作った男女一対の雛の人形を川に流す風習がある地域もあります。
These days, families celebrate the day by eating springlike sushi dishes and bake cakes inspired Hina-matsuri. It says the tradition of Hina-Matsuri was brought from China, and it still has been celebrated annually in Japanese way.
最近では、春らしい色合いのお寿司を食べたり、ひな祭りをイメージしたケーキなどを作って、家族が集まってお祝いします。 ひな祭りは中国から伝わったものが日本流になって、現代でも年に1度の行事として親しまれています。
